Andrew Gillette was born as Andrew O’Malley to Peter O’Malley and Mallory Gillette on January 21st in Cork, Ireland. He grew up in a household that spoke both Gaelic and French, but not much English. His father, like many Irish fathers at that time, was a drunkard, and though not physically abusive, he was quite verbally abusive. He never seemed to see any potential in his only son, and made sure that the boy knew it good and well; constantly berating him and hammering verbally on the boy’s self-esteem. When Andrew was fifteen years old, he and his family moved to London, England, into a small enclosed apartment (if it could be big enough to be called that). By seventeen, Andrew had joined into the Royal Navy, despite his lack of being able to speak very much English.

He changed his name to Andrew Gillette, and began working on a small ship entitled “The Savior”, which was rather appropriate, because that’s what the Navy became to Gillette. It was a safe haven where the boy could keep his mouth shut and work hard, and actually have a kind word or two tossed his way. He began to slowly, yet surely, learn English. He began to work his way up through the ranks on the ship, along with Groves, until he became a lieutenant, which is his current rank.

When he earned the rank of lieutenant, he was sent to Kingston, Jamaica and stationed on The Dauntless, which, at that time, was being captained by one Captain James Ballsworth. He quickly grew to respect the man for his quick thinking and excellent skills as captain. Being that as such, Ballsworth quickly earned Gillette’s loyalty, a trait of his that is hard to earn, and once earned, is not easily shaken. He followed Ballsworth on several pirate chases and through many storms and trials and tribulations. Gillette’s undoing, however, was when he unquestioningly followed Ballsworth into a hurricane off the coast of Tripoli. Their boat was smashed, and nearly all of the crew lost their lives at sea. Gillette was one of the lucky ones that made it back, but his faith in Ballsworth was sorely shaken, though not destroyed. He continued to hang about Kingston as a lieutenant, though when Ballsworth retired, he was promoted to Commodore.

When he became Commodore, through a mutual acquaintance, he met one Anita Ainsworth. He became enamored of her and she of him, and they fell in love very quickly. However, it was only two months into their relationship when Anita disappeared mysteriously. Andrew has spent months searching for her, but to no avail. However, when he explores the back alley behind a store on a whim, he finds himself transported to a place he would have never expected to find her...


Andrew Gillette is overly dramatic, decidedly feisty, amazingly stubborn, and fiercely loyal. He always strives to be the best in his field, however, there are times when he believes that loyalty to comrades and friends is regarded way above duty. However, after that, he holds duty in high regard. He is very loyal to the Navy, mostly because of the sanctuary it gave him.

Gillette has a problem with his temper. He is constantly getting overly offended on behalf of not only himself, but on the behalf of his friends. He is also too stubborn, and many times is unwilling to let go of an argument or somesuch thing. It can be a problem when it is a simple argument, and nothing really of consequence. These, combined with his penchant for over-dramatizing, as well as his fierce loyality, is what made him into an excellent leuitenant.

Despite the fact that he comes off confidant and in-charge, Gillette can be very self-loathing. However, at this point in his life, it’s only really to himself when he’s alone. In front of others, especially those he respects, he is confidant in his own abilities, and does not faulter in his convictions. He once fiercely believed that pirates are always the enemy, and that there is no grey area, but his opinion is beginning to falter just the slightest.


Gillette is slightly shorter than normal, being 5’ 7” in height. Despite being out in the sun for long periods of time, he is still pale, and freckles dot his skin on almost any imaginable area. His red-orange hair his a bit of a bowl cut, except better looking, when it isn’t under a wig, which is pretty much all the time. He has brown eyes that are somewhere between hazel and chocolate, and are constantly alert.

He always stands upright so as not to give an impression of weakness or flightyness. His chin is often lifted just the slightest bit, and his trademark smirk/sneer is directed at those he deems layabouts or slackers. He has very strong arms, left over from when he worked in the rigging, and his shoulders are not broad, but they are not thin either. He is not gangly, but he isn’t totally muscular, either. He’s rather average, in build.
